Welcome to Stonehugger Cemetery Restoration. I would like to take you on a trip through time. Almost all the restoration I do is in pioneer cemeteries that are 100 or more years old. My goal when I step into a cemetery is to restore the stones to as close to the condition they were in when they were first set at the head of the grave. My passion is for the repair and restoration of the cemeteries, but it is also the education of the public so that they can gain a new awareness of the art, beauty, and stories that are found in these pioneer cemeteries. If we don’t save these cemeteries now, they will not be there for our children and grandchildren to enjoy and learn from. The restoration process would not be complete for me if I did not do in-depth research on the people buried there. I know who they are, whom they married, how many children they buried, what they did in life, and often how they died. These become the stories that weave the cemetery together to tell the story of the community and of the families that you see today. They also become MY family. I perform restoration of individual stones, or an entire cemetery. I provide cleaning and / or repair of marble and limestone markers. Only appropriate hand mixed mortars and epoxies, suitable for use in pioneer cemeteries, are used. No chemicals, pressure washing or wire wheels are used. Full documentation, with before and after pictures, are also provided. I am fully insured and also available to perform educational presentations to historical groups. |
